FAQ

About meta tags

What are meta tags?

Tags inside the <head> that describe the page to crawlers and social platforms — the title shown in search results, the description snippet, the image shown when shared on X or LinkedIn, and crawl directives.

How do I use this checker?

Paste any URL and submit. We fetch the HTML, parse the <head>, and report each tag we find with its current value — or flag it as missing.

Which tags matter most?

title and meta description for search snippets. og:image and twitter:card for social previews. canonical to consolidate duplicates.

Why is a tag “missing”?

Either it isn’t in the HTML, its content attribute is empty, or it’s being injected client-side after our fetch. We parse server-rendered HTML only.
